20th June 2016, Dar es Salaam. UONGOZI Institute and the Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which aims at benefiting the Tanzanian civil service through capacity building programmes and allowing public servants to draw experiences from the Chinese civil service through different platforms.
The programmes that have been identified under the new agreement, include a training programme in China on Emergency Management, as well as a series of lectures including Public Administration, Urban Development, and “Getting to know China” which are both relevant and timely to the needs of Tanzanian senior government officials.
Dar es Salaam, June 14th 2016. The Minister for State under the President’s Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Government Hon. George Simbachawene (MP) has called upon investors in the extractive sector and local communities to work together in order to promote peace, stability and bring about socio-economic development in the country and African region as a whole.
The Minister made these remarks during a one-day high-level regional round-table discussion organized by the Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development (UONGOZI Institute) under the theme, “Managing Relations between Investors in the Extractive Sector, and Local Communities.”
1st June 2016, Dar es Salaam. Former Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Anna Semamba Makinda paid her first visit to UONGOZI Institute today. During her stay, she held official talks with her host, the Chief Executive Officer of UONGOZI Institute, Prof. Joseph Semboja, and also met other members of staff. Hon. Makinda goes on record as the first woman Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, a position she held from 2010 to 2015.
