Mwanza: The Patron of the Green Growth Platform (GGP) and Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania H.E. Philip Isdor Mpango will officiate this year’s GGP on “Management of beachfronts for socio-economic development in Tanzania”.
The event, to be held for one and a half days from 23 – 24 November 2022, will focus on policies and legal framework that guarantee sustainable development of shorelines in the country. It will involve extensive dialogues on the subject and a short excursion to the site where the Tampere Project will rise. The project, part of the master plan for Mwanza (2015 – 2035), will include civic spaces, parks, hotels, restaurants, museums and theatres, plazas and a convention centre.
Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, Deputy Minister in the President’s Office (Public Service Management and Good Governance); and Hon. Mary Masanja, Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism will be in attendance. Other attendees will include stakeholders from government, the private sector, civil society, academia and development partners.
The GGP is a core component of UONGOZI Institute’s activities to support sustainable development. It aims to increase awareness and understanding of issues related to green growth and its potential for Tanzania’s development. It is a proactive tool for creating cross-sectoral linkages, promoting economic and social well-being, and safeguarding the ecosystems and environment that sustain us all. Since inception (2010), seven events have been facilitated.
